Having spent many years in the south, and having tried many different barbecue joints, both sit down and roadside I have to tell you the best, and I mean the best I have ever eaten is at Pat’s Barbecue in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Pat’s is tucked in a nondescript building on Commonwealth Avenue on what appears to be a dead end street so you have to be good with directions or willing to poke around a bit to find them. Closed Sundays, open midweek and weekend nights usually with a band and a small cover charge.
Order the three meats, double bones and chicken, a side of black beans and rice and go for the extra side of collard greens. It comes with an all too small piece of cornbread, but one plate serves two people plenty for just under $20.00 total.
One of Salt Lake’s best hidden gems for sure. Give me a holler when you’re thinking of going and I’ll meet you there.
