I’ll save you a long story on how we ended up at Pier 49 Sourdough Pizza in Sugarhouse and get straight to the dough.
The menu lists pizzas by names of famous landmarks in San Francisco, no surprise there. We selected the Alcatraz (the combo meat and veggie) and the Embarcadero (pesto and chicken). We ordered the personal size so we could share.
The pizza was delivered quick, but maybe a little too quick as the Alcatraz was a little uncooked. Overall the crust was rather bland as well, missing that distinct sourdough bite. The sauce was rather limp, not having as much body as I like and the pizza could have used a little more cheese.
The Embarcadero on the other hand had plenty of cheese and bright green pesto. This pizza would have been A+ with bigger chicken pieces.
They no longer sell beer, which can break an otherwise fair dining experience, luckily we were eating at home and got it to go.
Overall I have to give Pier 49 Sourdough Pizza a B-
