Star of India a Shining Star in Utah's Restaurant Circut
The Review
Star of India Restaurant has been located on Salt Lake City's 400 South just off State Street since 1990. They offer a large and very popular weekday lunch buffet that draws a steady crowd.
We stopped in on Labor Day evening for a causal dinner with our friend Robin and despite it being a holiday weekend night, and a Monday, there were plenty of other diners there to sample the goodness.
We ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh Curry, the Chicken Shahi Korma Curry and a side salad with a combination appetizer. Everything came quickly in succession, we were barely done with our appetizer when our main courses arrived.
Everything was absolutely delicious and the service was attentive. My only complaint is the portion sizes. Though we did not leave hungry, and my dining partner suggested that the portions simply haven't been Americanized, I still feel a bit cheated if I don't have enough left to have a midnight snack or light lunch of leftovers the following day.
