The Soup Kitchen Offers a Standard Soup and Sandwich Menu
The Review
With five Wasatch Front locations, the Soup Kitchen has a virtual lock on the Salt Lake valley soup kitchen market.
The soups are served piping hot. They're prepared in a commissary style kitchen and then trucked to each location daily. All soups come with your choice of bread sticks, selection may vary by day and location.
The soups are fair, the few I have tried over the years tend to be a bit on the salty side. Our recent visit included a ham sandwich served on a floured bun and clam chowder that was very salty and the soup base a bit thin though it had plenty of nice clam bits along with finely chopped potato.
My biggest compliant about the Soup Kitchen (besides the Pepsi only products) is their prices. At nearly $7.00 for soup and sandwich (sans beverage or chips) the place doesn't offer the budget minded consumer the opportunity to visit often.
