Moochies is an out of place sandwich shop that encompasses and old house, converted into a deli that has morphed into a larger than life establishment that now occupies the adjoining house to provide for restrooms and additional seating.
Moochies is something you might find right off Haight Street in San Francisco.
Their specialty is an original style Philly Steak and Cheese, with an optional add-on of sauteed peppers and onions. Coming in at over $12.00 for the foot long, Moochies isn't your everyday lunch joint, but if it were you'd have a waistline to go with it.
We tried Moochies today based on a recommendation of a dear friend, and it was a toss-up between the Philly Steak and Cheese and the Meatball Sub. We went with the Philly since it's their claim to fame.
The bread was excellent, the meat mediocre but plentiful. The cheese was already soaking into the bread, and there could have been a little bit more cheese. Next time we'll have to give the Meatball Sub a try, but I've heard that its a messy concoction so it won't be while wearing dress clothing.
The place was packed, but run well so you shouldn't have to wait long for your lunch. Additional seating can be found one door the the West or on their outside patio areas.
